The Lion King Musical had two main characters. One of which is Simba, the King’s son who conflicts with the other main character, Scar, the King’s brother, who, since young, always wanted to rule the land. Simba, as a cub, was energetic, very playful and very curious about things. Scar is a very cunning, sly and deceitful. He used whatever means he could to get what he wants. In this musical, Scar used Simbah’s young innocent to plot the death of Mufasa and Simba, who was next in line to the throne,so that he could take over the throne.
I feel that the actors for Simba and Scar did a very great job. I could feel the animosity that was being displayed by Scar. I could also feel the fear and jubilant spirit for both young Simba and grown up Simba. The scene that captivated me the most was the battle has finally ended and Simba's friends come forward and acknowledge Simba as the new and rightful king.
The costumes used in this production remained the same through every act. The lightings however, changed through the act, depending on the mood and scene. An example would be when Simba, Timon and Pumba were star gazing, the lights were dimmed to make it as close to a night sky as possible. The scenery often changes so we will not get tired of seeing the same props again and again.
All in all, it was captivating and every scene keeps you wanting for more. With this experience, i would most definitely go to the theatre again.
